Latvia & Estonia now share number 1 place in terms of favour for founders now.
We both have 20% taxation for cap.gains ( options inluded)and cheap legal fees for lawyers (and business operations, but in Estonia it’s growing year by year).
In UK you SAAS like SeedLegals and Vestd, which allows you to cut legal fees even more and do everything online. And nothing in LV or ES. But in the UK the whole system with team equity is really mess. It’s hard to understand how it's REALLY works.
But the main question - how you could bring IN more founders & employees to LV and ES.
Yes—it's so incredibly hard to find one European country that checks all the boxes!
It's true that attracting more founders (= being a small SF) is the best option, but being Delaware, that is, being the legal platform supporting companies, is also not bad.
I know that you're not a big fan of deeptech - but for the proper business oriented spac etech startup it's even more hard to stay in the EU. You've got all the ITAR rules in the US where you could not hire non US res for the job, but on the other hand you want your HQ in Lux/Holland and would like to apply to the EU funding or even to the ESA (God bless, it another stream!) but your main market still in the US.... And after BREXIT it's more messy for the space domain.
True! More 'national security' rules to come that will contribute to even more fragmentation—and will make it tough for CEOs to decide where they locate assets, functions, and risks.
